PADDLE CANADA'S PADDLING PROGRAMS Paddle Canada's national paddling programs have proven themselves to be the ideal mechanism to extend and deliver our mandates of environmental awareness and protection as well as the preservation of the canoe and kayak as a part of our national heritage. More Canadians are, and continue to be, exposed to Paddle Canada's message through our instructional programs than ever before.

As part of the Paddle Canada teaching format, paddlers are taught the technical skills to help them experience safer and more enjoyable recreational paddling experiences. We offer skill and instructor courses in the following disciplines:
Paddlers are also taught the Leave No Trace principles for active environmental awareness and protection in order to help ensure that we can all continue to enjoy Canada's many waterways and wilderness for years to come. #What People Are Saying About Our Courses (2010 Season) "The course was great; I learned what I set out to learn, which was to learn how to do a rescue properly, and to get feedback on my forward stroke." Emily MacDonald - Sea Kayak Intro to Kayaking "Just
writing some comments about the course I just participated in on Quadra
Island. First things first; Albert is amazing! What a fantastic
instructor. I had a lot of fun playing in the water, and learning
everything. Great lodge, great food, great scenery, and great people.
I'd do it again in a heart beat!" -Jean'a Willis - Sea Kayak Level 1
Skills"Peter broke the river work up with plenty of highly useful shore talks that were really enlightening to me despite having paddled whitewater for several years... I am confident my paddling will improve greatly with more practice, until I don't have to think so much about each stroke!" - Karonne Lansal - Moving Water Canoe Skills Introduction Solo "The instructor was interesting, and had lots of good information about safety, paddling, paddling clothes (pluses and minuses about different types ), boat design, understanding the tide and current chart, awareness of the environment and weather, and the importance of using good judgement." Emily MacDonald - Sea Kayak Intro to Kayaking "EXCELLENT. I found the course content thorough, very relevant and certainly met my expectations and hopes raised by the course description." Anne C. - Sea Kayak Level 1 Skills "Glad to see Paddle Canada (is making headway again). It's obvious a great deal of work has gone into modernizing the material and the organization. From my experience on this course I'd say you're definitely on the right track." Karonne Lansal - Moving Water Canoe Skills Introduction SoloDoug (our instructor) was supportive when we were doing the practice rescues, helpful in getting us out in the water, gave good feedback as we practiced different strokes, and was generally a solid instructor." Emily MacDonald - Sea Kayak Intro to Kayaking "Michael's presentation of the material was delivered with great clarity in a very respectful, relaxed, inclusive and friendly way which encouraged interaction and questions. Thank you Michael and thank you Paddle Canada for a much needed and much appreciated course." Anne C. - Sea Kayak Level 1 Skills "I really enjoyed the course. But more importantly I feel like I took away from it what I was hoping I would take away. The small student-instructor ratio helped a lot in that not only did we have almost one-on-one instructions, but it also provided us with considerably more practice time while running the rapids. So yea, thumbs up for all three instructors! " Sven Hafemeister - Moving Water Canoe Skills Intermediate Tandem |
